The GO - AHEAD....Photograph to a painting.

I was commissioned by a very talented artist, Bradford Salamon, to take some photos of three children for some portraits he was creating for a family.  Gladly I took on the project.  It was so flattering to know that my photography work was valued and admired enough that someone would want to create paintings from my work.  While I was in CA the paintings were finished I went to the studio to see them.  I was speechless and could not stop staring at them.  Today I got the GO-AHEAD from Bradford that the family has seen the paintings and now I can post photos of them on my blog!!!!  Exciting!!!

Here are some other photos from the shoot we did together.  In some of the shots you can see me working with the kids.  One thing I have learned is that children often get bored easy so you have to keep it light and fun.  The beach is a great place for that!  Also, this shoot took place on Mother's Day and so I decided to do some shots with mom.  She was a great sport and we got some
good photos of her with her 3 boys.

Take time to play.

Happy Mother's Day!

About Me & My Blog Top 25 Blogger FAQs

  • What's your favorite subject to photograph, besides your kids?

Besides photographing children I love to take photographs of anything old. I love antiques, old buildings, things you think have lost value but have a history/story to tell.
  • Which camera do you usually use?

I usually use my Nikon D700 with a 50mm lens. However, I tell people, "Even if you don't have a nice camera use what you have. This could include a simple point and shoot or even your cell phone camera. The idea is to capture the moment". I often look back on photos of me as a child. The photos were taken with some sort of film camera, of very low quality, but it does not matter to me. I treasure all those photos, fancy camera or not!
  • What's a creative way to display photographs?

Put the photographs on the walls. You can display them in different frames, in clusters, with other objects like mirrors intermixed, regardless of how you display them the important fact is that you DO. Photos are meant to be seen not stored in boxes or files on the computer. Especially with children....its like their artwork making the fridge. If a child sees their photograph on the wall it gives them a sense of accomplishment, and belonging. Children love to see themselves displayed on the wall just as much as they like seeing their artwork on the fridge.

McGuire Children

Believe it or not this beautiful woman was once 2 years old and I was her babysitter.  Now she is a married and a mother of 3 beautiful children.  Wow that makes me feel old!!!!  I had the opportunity to visit with her, and her family when I drove through Las Vegas recently.  It was such a fun reunion!

Sneak Peak - Hartung Family

I had so much fun working with this family.  They had some great ideas of their own in regards to location. I love it when clients bring ideas and their own creativity to the table.

Mommy and Me

I have the most amazingly beautiful family members.  My cousin Rachel and I have been talking about doing a photoshoot of her family FOREVER!  Well the stars alined and we were able to make it happen as we both happened to be in the same state at the same time.  This was impromptu but worked out fabulously as they were going to a wedding and happened to have coordinating outfits.  Sometimes thing just fall into place magically.  It was great to be able to see each other and spend some quality time together.  Seeing our children interact with one another was priceless.  There is one person very important to me missing from these photos but, by the POWER of AYNN I will catch those shots one day!

The way photographers play with fire - in honor of Bill Bontempo

I love this man!!!!! Short shorts and knee high socks. Thank you Heidi for sending me this. I will always remember what an amazing man he was. Mountain Trail would not have been complete without him. My sister Heidi Rote, my childhood brother Chris Bontempo and Bill Bontempo my second family!
Love you all always.

Heidi I just wanted to say the funeral service was so amazing! Sad at times but mostly a wonderful way to pay tribute to an amazing man. All the things people had to say about him was beautiful it was like everyone painted a collaborative picture about his amazing character, his witty charm, his charisma, his passion for life, his compassion and unconditional love.

And the reception after was filled with laughter, cheer, music, and a reconnection of bringing loved ones together. Bill would not have wanted it any other way. He was big on fun and i'm glad we had some.

And the sparklers really were an amazing idea because he lit the way and the journey for so many. Like your friend Jennifer Boros said," I know it's hard now, but how cool that on this very day and for all of your years to come.....each firework in the nighttime sky will forever remind you of your daddy."

I love you and your family. I am so grateful I could be a part of the celebration!

Good times sister! Hugs!

Can you see the "BILL - Heart"?  Look closely cause it is there.
